I don't see Fernando as a family man... he has changed girlfriends more times than he changed teams. Winning a championship sounds like a pipe dream. But a race seems doable. He's been best of the rest in 4 races out of 5, and some day the RedBulls might fail.23-05-2023 07:10

McLaren with Ron Dennis betrayed him. What kind of a team asks FIA to penalize one of their drivers to favor the other? (Hungary). In his second stint the car was a dog and he said so. Same with Ferrari in 2014. By the way, Ferrari should have kissed his feet after challenging for the title with their barely ok 2010 car and the 2012 doggie When teams treated him well and gave him a decent car, like Renault and Aston Martin, he's been more than happy.23-05-2023 07:21

He's an ex driver. His bubbly personality made him a fan favorite, particularly among the Drive to Survive crowd, but he has failed to deliver for 4 consecutive years, with two different teams. Pretty much the entire F1 paddock is happy to see him in a competitive car, smiling and scoring podiums. Wonder where are those who call him "toxic" because he dared criticizing some past teams like Ferrari and McLaren, which think of themselves as demigods above the mere mortal drivers...16-04-2023 15:49

I don't think so. He doesn't criticize Aston because the car is good, like he didn't criticize Renault. He argued with Otmar but didn't humiliate Alpine. And he trashed Ferrari and McLaren because they gave him an utter dog of a car, but they thought they were impervious to criticism.16-04-2023 15:53

You make a career move when there is room for improvement. Newey has climbed the ladder from humble Fittipaldi to dominating RedBull. After a hiatus caused by the adoption of hybrid engines, he's back on top. Moving to any other team would mean years to change their culture and return to the top, and for what? When Todt put together a dream team at Ferrari with Schumi, Byrne and Brawn, it still took five years to yield a WDC. Newey's already hailed as the best designer of the age. No matter what he does or doesn't do, to the Lewis crowd he'll always be Crashtappen, the bad guy who stole their idol's record breaking championship.
